We first opened our doors in 1998, and have since grown to four locations: Honolulu, Waikele, Mililani, and Kapolei. Adam earned both his Bachelor of Health Science and Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan.
Through his clinical experiences, Adam was able to learn in many different settings, including outpatient orthopedics, neurological rehab, and acute care. He found his passion in outpatient and further pursued his education to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He enjoys getting people back to doing what they love, and bridging the gap between rehab and performance.
Adam and his wife moved from Michigan and are loving Hawaii! In his free time, Adam enjoys learning how to surf, exploring the beautiful island, and just laying out on the beach.

Alexis earned her Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Exercise Physiology from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. She earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of St. Augustine in Miami, Florida.
Alexis has worked mostly in the outpatient orthopedic setting but she also has some experience with neurologic, cardiac, and brain injury patients in the acute care setting through clinical internships.
In her free time, Alexis likes to surf, eat, and repeat. She also spends lots of time with family and friends since returning home to Hawaiʻi from physical therapy school.

Andrea earned her doctorate in physical therapy from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California in 2014. She received her Bachelor of Science in Community Health from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Andie has gained experience in the areas of orthopedics, neurologic rehab, acute care, and inpatient rehab. She also has background in vestibular rehab. Andie strives to expand her knowledge base in all fields of physical therapy, particularly in the areas of sports and neurology. She is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
In her free time, Andie enjoys hiking, running, softball, learning how to surf, and spending time with family and friends. She loves exploring her new surroundings!

August graduated from the physical therapy doctoral program at the University of Missouri in 2017. In addition to his doctorate in physical therapy, he also holds a master’s degree in photojournalism and a bachelor’s in print journalism. Prior to joining Jaco Rehab, August worked with the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute as a physical therapist. After his first year as a clinician he joined the Mizzou Biojoint Program, a one of-a-kind specialized team, providing a variety of surgical and non-surgical options for patients with cartilage and bone damage. August and that team developed the Integrated Joint Health Program – a comprehensive program which aids patients in weight loss and pain reduction with the aim of helping them avoid surgery.
In his free time, August enjoys running, hiking, photography, martial arts and a variety of other athletic endeavors.

Cat earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of St Augustine for Health Sciences, San Diego in 2010, where she graduated with high honors. After graduate school, Cat moved home to Oahu to provide patient-centered, evidence-based physical therapy in the active community she grew up in.
Cat has worked with a variety of patient populations including orthopedic, neurologic, acute inpatient and military poly-trauma/wounded warriors. She has completed advanced manual therapy courses in treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunction of the myofascia, extremities, thoraco-lumbar, sub-cranial, and pelvic/sacro-iliac regions. She now works as a Care Coordinator at our Honolulu clinic, and plays an active role in mentoring new therapists.
Cat’s favorite days are spent outdoors. Her hobbies include paddling, hiking, running, soccer, and walking her dogs at the beach.

Cheryl graduated from Loma Linda University School of Allied Health in 1986. She is one of the JACO team’s most experienced therapists, working in a variety of physical therapy settings, including pediatrics, wound care, inpatient and outpatient orthopedics, and neurologic and cardiac care.
Other advanced training includes courses in McConnell taping, Functional Orthopedics, neurodevelopmental training, and McKenzie Diagnosis and Treatment. In addition, she received a Pilates teaching certification from Stott Pilates in 2001.
Cheryl is also a certified PADI Divemaster and has served as a dance instructor for 15 years — tap, jazz, ballet, musical theater, and hip-hop.

Connor received a BA in Environmental Business from University of Redlands. He decided to follow his passion of helping people and received his doctorate in physical therapy from Franklin Pierce University.
Connor has completed his clinical training in various settings, including outpatient sport and orthopedic, acute care, and skilled nursing facilities. His six-month clinical rotation at Tripler Medical Center brought him to the island, where he fell in love with the culture and community of Oahu.
Connor has extensive experience training and coaching high-level tennis players. He currently is involved with USTA, helping athletes prevent injuries and improve performance.
In his free time, Connor enjoys hiking, swimming, cooking, and visiting family on the Big Island.

Daniel received a BS in Exercise Science from Pacific University in 2015. He received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Creighton University in 2019.
Daniel’s graduate work in physical therapy provided him with experience in outpatient, inpatient settings in both Omaha, Nebraska, and Vancouver Washington. He also gained experience in School-based Therapy at the Elkhorn school district in Omaha Nebraska.
After a few years away, Daniel is excited to return home to Hawaiʻi. In his free time, Daniel enjoys coaching high school sports, playing soccer, hiking and spending time with friends.

Danny attended the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington where he earned his BS in Exercise Science in 2008, and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2018.
He completed his clinical training in acute inpatient neuro-rehab, pediatrics, and outpatient orthopedic settings. This included a rotation with JACO Rehab where he enjoyed his experience so much that he decided to return after completing his coursework. Danny has worked with a wide range of patient populations and seeks to find fun and creative ways to assist and guide his clients to achieve their goals. Prior to working as a physical therapist, Danny was an EMT for several years in Boston, MA and continues to hold his national BLS certification. He also speaks Japanese, having spent 3 years living and working in Japan.
Danny enjoys soccer, hiking, running, climbing, guitar, and attempting to surf – which he has found to be much harder than snowboarding.


Doreen Yarson

Doreen is a graduate of the University of Hawaii and earned a Masters Degree in physical therapy at the University of Colorado in May of 2000. She is also licensed in Whistler, Canada and provides rehabilitation to snow and mountain athletes in the winter months. Her areas of expertise include sports-specific training for upper and lower extremity, treatment of spinal dysfunction, postural and ergonomic assessment, education in spinal stability, and post surgical rehabilitation.
She has completed orthopedic specialty courses from the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy and the McKenzie Institute. She studied and trained in Maitland spinal techniques in Queensland, Australia.
Doreen’s knowledge of sports injury rehabilitation is enhanced by her participation in recreational sports. She has competed in triathlon, mountain biking, downhill and cross country ski racing. She also enjoys surfing, hiking, and cycling. Her goal is to create a rehabilitation program to meet the needs of your goals and lifestyle.

Erin graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from East Tennessee State University in 2006. She then went on to obtain her Associate’s degree for Physical Therapist Assistant from South College in Knoxville, TN in 2009.
Having developed a passion for orthopedics during her clinical internships, Erin has worked solely in outpatient orthopedic clinics in both Georgia and Florida prior to moving to Hawaii. She is also a Credentialed Clinical Instructor for student Physical Therapist Assistants through the American Physical Therapy Association.
Erin moved to Hawaii in 2018 as her husband is on assignment with the U. S. Air Force. In her free time, she enjoys cheering on her Tennessee Volunteers, playing fetch with her golden retriever, and enjoying the beauty of the island.

Gian received his degree in physical therapy from Silliman University in the Philippines in 2002. Since then, he’s practiced in numerous settings ranging from home care, inpatient, and as team therapist for MMA gyms before migrating to the Connecticut in 2008, where he worked as an outpatient PT for 7 years.
Gian has treated a wide variety of patients from pediatrics to geriatrics, and took special interest in sports rehab and amputee rehab/prosthetic training.
Gian is very passionate about fitness and health. He is an avid surfer, a lifelong martial artist, and continues to teach and train in muay thai, taekwondo, boxing, and MAA, as well as a competitive Brazilian jiujitsu/submission wrestler. He is also an avid swimmer, free diver and open water diver.

Griselda has been working for Jaco Rehab as the Operations Manager since 2009. She holds a Master of Human Resource Management from the University of Hawaiʻi, Mānoa. In addition to running daily operations for our four clinics, Griselda also manages our recruitment and employee relations programs.
Griselda is also a proud member of the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii (BGCH) Alliance Board, a group of young professionals that provides support and mentorship services for BGCH.

Jaco graduated from the Amsterdam Academy of Physical Therapy, Netherlands, in 1994. His post-graduate physical therapy training includes McKenzie Certification (Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment of spinal conditions) and Matheson Certification (Functional Capacity Evaluations). He has also served as a Clinical Instructor for various schools of physical therapy education.
Since founding JACO Physical Rehabilitation in 1997, Jaco has become known for his progressive approach to orthopedic and sports rehabilitation. Jaco regularly teaches injury prevention clinics at various venues in Honolulu and is an injury consultant for USTA Pacific region, the Honolulu Bulls Soccer Club, Boca Hawaii and Team Jet .
Originally from the Netherlands, Jaco considers himself a ‘citizen of the world’ after having lived in the Netherlands Antilles, Great Britain, Israel, and Tanzania, before making Hawaii his home.
If he’s not working or training for the next triathlon, you’ll find him playing soccer with his kids, surfing, windsurfing, snowboarding, or hiking.

After a serious knee injury in high school, physical therapy not only healed Jamie, it became her new passion. She went on to receive both her BS in Human Biology and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California.
Through her journey in both undergrad and grad school, she gained experience working with patients in various settings including general outpatient orthopedics, acute inpatient hospitals, pediatrics, and athletics. Because of her original introduction to physical therapy, Jamie is especially drawn to the athletic population, and working with them in hopes of preventing injury altogether.
In her free time, Jamie loves enjoying the outdoors and doing anything from hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, slack-lining, surfing, swimming with turtles, and most of all… eating yummy food!

Janna received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Duke University in 2011.
She was then accepted into an Orthopedic Residency Program through Florida Hospital
in Orlando, FL and became a board-certified orthopedic specialist. While in Florida,
Janna also served as the Clinical Coordinator for Florida Hospital’s Orthopedic
Residency Program where she taught and mentored orthopedic residents. She also served
as a lab assistant in the Adventist Health University’s Physical Therapy Program, and is a
Credentialed Clinical Instructor.
Janna is also Athletic Training Certified, and has treated athletes ranging from high
school/AAU to professional levels. She has also taken a number of continuing education
courses through Maitland Australian Physiotherapy Seminars, and is working toward
becoming a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist.
Janna is originally from Maui and is excited to be back in the islands. She is a new mom,
and so she enjoys time with her husband and daughter on her days off. She loves the beach, swimming, and spear diving, as well as cooking and baking in her free time.

Jennifer received her physical therapy degree from the Amsterdam Academy of Physical Therapy in the Netherlands in 1994. Since then, she has practiced in a wide variety of settings before specializing in orthopedic rehabilitation at JACO Physical Rehabilitation in 2001.
Jenn has advanced training in repetitive strain injuries, total joint replacement care, post-partum rehabilitation, and spinal stabilization. In addition, she has earned certification as an Advanced Neuro Developmental Treatment (NDT) therapist and has a special interest in treating women for pre- and post-partum rehabilitation.
Jenn is a busy wife and mother of two children but somehow still finds time to surf, paddle outrigger canoes, and compete in triathlons. She has paddled the Molokai-Oahu race numerous times.

Joey completed his clinical training working in outpatient orthopedics, sport, and acute care settings in Nebraska, Washington, and back home in Hawaii. He found his passion in orthopedics and hopes to expand his knowledge and skills in the orthopedic field through continuing education courses. His goal is to empower patients through physical therapy and help them get back to the activities that they love to do. He plans to get his Orthopedic Clinical Specialist certification in the future.
Although he misses his college town in the Midwest, Joey is happy that he can finally enjoy warm winters again back in Hawaii. During his free time, Joey enjoys hiking, fishing, powerlifting, and taking care of his new vegetable garden.

Jonathan obtained his Bachelors Degree in Anthropology from UC Santa Cruz. He received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, California in 2014 graduating with honors.
Jonathan has gained experience working with a variety of patient populations including acute inpatient and inpatient neurological rehabilitation settings, although his clinical focus has been on outpatient orthopedics. Jonathan has received certifications in a variety of soft tissue mobilization techniques and expects to sit for his Orthopedic clinical specialist certification soon. Jonathan is passionate about delivering personalized treatment to his patients to help them achieve their goals.
In his free time Jonathan enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, diving, learning to surf, rock climbing and spending time with his wife and young daughter.

Jordan is an avid fitness enthusiast who also enjoys learning how to surf, hiking and any time spent with her dog. She is also a die hard Steelers fan who never misses a game!

Kristen received her BS of Health Sciences from the University of Miami in 2015. She returned to UM for her doctorate of physical therapy, graduating in 2019. After 7 years away from home, Kristen moved back to O’ahu with hopes to give back to her community and to be close to her family.
Kristen’s PT graduate experience and studies include work in outpatient orthopedics, acute care, and cardiac rehab in Miami, Dallas, Houston, and Portland. She has also participated in research involving health and fitness trends in minority and medically underserved populations.
Kristen loves the outdoors and can usually be found at the beach or hiking in her free time with friends and family. She is also incredibly passionate about anything and everything related to food.

From her clinical internships, Laura gained experience working in various settings including outpatient orthopedics, subacute rehabilitation, and acute care. She completed her acute care internship here on Oahu and fell in love with the island. Upon graduating from PT school, she searched for outpatient orthopedic jobs on Oahu and found the perfect fit with Jaco Rehab!
During her time off, Laura enjoys participating in almost any outdoor activity, including surfing, hiking, and running. She has ran 3 marathons and is planning to run more marathons in the future!

Laura obtained her Bachelor of Health Science Studies at Baylor University in Texas. She then returned home to Ohio and received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from The Ohio State University.
Throughout her clinical internships, Laura gained experience in acute care, inpatient and outpatient neurologic rehabilitation, and ultimately found my passion in the outpatient orthopedic setting. Laura completed a research internship in Park City, Utah, where she participated in the research and treatment of individuals with concussions. She hopes to further my education in this area in the future.
Moving to Hawaii from Ohio, Laura is loving all the activities the island has to offer! In her free time she enjoys traveling, hiking, snorkeling, exploring local restaurants, reading at the beach, and watching sports.

She plans to continue expanding her knowledge with more advanced manual therapy techniques and certifications as well as continued education for sports therapy.
Laura enjoys hiking anywhere, rock climbing, or just relaxing by the beach. In her free time she loves being outside and trying out new things as well as new foods!

Lauren has worked with a variety of patient populations including outpatient orthopedic, neurologic, and acute inpatient. She takes a special interest in outpatient sports and orthopedics.
Lauren is a Southern California native and grew up visiting Hawaii frequently to visit family, which inspired her to move to the islands after graduate school. Lauren is an avid open water swimmer and her hobbies include hiking, camping and spending time with her chocolate lab, Stanley.

Through her varied clinical experiences, she found her true passion in outpatient orthopedics. She enjoys empowering people through physical therapy to continue pursuing their passion.
Leandi is an avid rock climber, hiker, and runner. She enjoys any and all of her time spent outside and cannot wait to attempt surfing. She is also originally from South Africa and is also fluent in Afrikaans.

Marco received his doctorate of physical therapy from the University of Southern California in 2006.
In 2009, he returned to USC after being accepted into USC’s Orthopedic Residency Program where he worked as a therapist, assisted in teaching entry-level physical therapy classes, and worked hands-on with some of USC’s top surgeons. During the residency he received specialized training in orthopedics including spinal manipulation, foot and ankle biomechanics, treatment of low back pain, cervicogenic headaches, and injuries in overhead athletes. In 2011 Marco was certified as an orthopedic clinical specialist. Marco is also a certified athletic trainer and has worked with athletes of all calibers, ranging from pediatric to professional athletes.
Marco enjoys scuba diving, playing soccer, hiking, camping and golf. He is also interested in learning new hobbies such as surfing and playing his guitar.

Marissa received her doctorate in physical therapy from Slippery Rock University, PA in 2000. Before deciding to focus on treating orthopedic and sports-related injuries, Marissa worked in various settings in both Illinois and Hawaii.
She has taken multiple continuing education classes that have focused on manual therapy, running analysis, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization and treatment of the spine. Marissa is the Clinical Director at our newest location in Mililani.
In her free time Marissa enjoys swimming, biking, running and golf. She lives in Kaneohe with her husband Chuck and her yellow Labrador, the Duke of Kaneohe.

Meghan graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida in 2009. She went on to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Lynchburg University in Lynchburg, Virginia in 2014, where she was awarded the Clinical Excellence Award during her final year.
Since graduating physical therapy school, she has completed a residency in Manual Therapy in Nashville, Tennessee as well as an Orthopedic Residency in Tacoma, Washington. Her background is primarily in Orthopedics, Pelvic Floor Therapy and Sports Therapy. As a Physical Therapist, her aim is to meet the unique needs of each and every patient in order to help them meet their personal goals as effectively as possible.
In her free time Meghan enjoys being with friends and family, hiking, running, exploring the outdoors, and playing endless amounts of fetch with her dog.

Melanie graduated from CSU Long Beach with her Masters degree in Physical Therapy in 2011 and went on to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University in 2015. She is also a certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and has experience working with collegiate to professional level athletes in the sports medicine setting.
Melanie has been practicing physical therapy for over 5 years gaining experience in a variety of settings, but her passion is orthopedics and sports medicine. Melanie loves tailoring each rehab program to the individual and being able to get patients back to enjoying the sports and activities they love. She is also trained in the Graston Technique and is a Graston provider treating soft tissue injuries in a variety of patients.
Melanie lived on the north shore while completing undergraduate coursework at BYUH and had been looking forward to this opportunity to return to live and work on the beautiful island of Oahu. In her free time she enjoys playing soccer, traveling, snowboarding, wake surfing, learning to play the ukulele, and any activity that involves the beach.

Miwa earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Emory University in 2008. After graduation she worked in outpatient physical therapy clinic in Atlanta, GA where she treated patients with variety of orthopedic conditions.
Miwa enrolled in a residency program with Evidence in Motion, where she learned many hands-on techniques such as spinal and extremity joint manipulations and mobilizations. She received board certification as an orthopedic specialist in 2011. She also has experience working with athletes as a certified athletic trainer.
Miwa enjoys playing tennis, hiking with her dog, and going to the beach to surf. Miwa is also fluent in Japanese.


Motoki Nakamura

Motoki received his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology from San Diego State University in 2012. He then earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Miami in 2015.
Motoki has gained clinical experience in both the United States and in Japan, working with patient populations ranging from professional athletes to patients with stroke and cancer. Motoki is also a certified Road Runner Club of America running coach, and fluent in Japanese.
In his free time Motoki enjoys being outdoors such as running, hiking, rock climbing, and surfing.

Nicole earned both her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Campbell University in North Carolina. She has also lived in Las Vegas, Nevada prior to moving to Oahu.
Nicole has a wide range of clinical experience, including orthopedics/sports medicine, developmental pediatrics, and intensive care. Throughout her studies, she organized and participated in the region’s Farm Worker’s Clinic. Nicole and her team would travel to rural farms, providing treatment to injured Spanish-speaking farmers throughout central North Carolina. This experience taught her to create the most effective treatments possible with limited resources. Nicole’s greatest passions related to the field are global outreach and sport/work injury prevention, especially for children and young adults.
Nicole loves to travel – she has backpacked several countries and has road-tripped across the USA. One of her favorite adventures was hiking Mt. Etna volcano in Sicily. She also enjoys hiking and playing soccer (go Barça!). Her next adventure is to learn how to surf!

Rachel earned both her Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Science and Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Northeastern University in Boston, MA.
During her time there, Rachel spent her studies focused on sports orthopedics, as well as pediatrics and neuro rehab. Rachel has a passion for return to sport rehabilitation and post concussion syndrome management. She spent her time not only playing on the field, but assisting with recovery off the field as well. Prior to moving to Oahu, Rachel worked in an outpatient orthopedic clinic as well as a pediatric inpatient rehab unit in Boston.
Rachel is a long time Liverpool FC fan and you can catch her in the early mornings cheering on her team! In her free time she loves to play soccer, watch sports, hike, read, and travel.


Ross Lum

Ross received his BS in Exercise Science from Creighton University in 2012, and went on to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Northwestern University in 2015. After graduating, Ross returned home to Oahu to practice and treat patients in the local community he grew up in.
Ross has clinical experience working with a wide variety of patient populations, including those with outpatient orthopedic injuries, complex neurological conditions, and with veterans in the acute inpatient setting. His interests include post-surgical rehab, sports related injuries, and focusing on injury prevention. He plans on obtaining advanced manual therapy certifications in order to supplement his treatments through evidence-based practice.
Ross enjoys spending his free time outdoors in the sun, and is happy that he will be spending his winters back home in Hawaii. His hobbies include basketball, golfing, body boarding, hiking, and beach volleyball.

Seth Conway

Seth graduated with his Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Kansas in 2016 and went on to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2019.
Seth’s clinical training includes orthopedics, sports medicine, pediatrics, and
skilled nursing. He also completed clinical training during an international pediatrics rotation in Ghent, Belgium as well as a rotation treating young high-level athletes at Children’s Mercy Sports Medicine Center in Kansas City, KS. These experiences have further fueled Seth’s passion for helping others by creatively implementing a variety of rehabilitation concepts and techniques, including those he was exposed to as a former Division I football student-athlete.
In his free time, Seth enjoys exploring the islands through hiking, snorkeling, and diving. As a previous snowboarder and wakeboarder, Seth is also eager for the opportunity to soon add surfing to his repertoire.

Seung received his Master of Physical Therapy degree from Long Beach State University, Long Beach, CA in 2003. After graduation, Seung specialized in sports-related and post-operative orthopedic rehabilitation in Orange County, CA.
His advanced training has involved the treatment of the spine, sacroiliac joint, and hip; the biomechanics of pitching; and taping techniques for patellofemoral and postural dysfunction. He has served as a Clinical Instructor for various schools of physical therapy education.
After treating patients for many years in the town clinic, Seung opened and manages our JACO Waikele clinic in central Oahu, as the Clinic Director.
Although he misses snowboarding occasionally, Seung loves the “outdoor playground” that is Hawaii and enjoys hiking, bodyboarding, surfing, and playing basketball and baseball. In addition, Seung is fluent in Korean.


Shannon O’Neill

Shannon received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2007 from the University of Washington in Seattle where she gained experience in a variety of settings: outpatient orthopedic, sports medicine, acute care, neuro rehab, pediatrics and geriatrics.
She practiced in Seattle for 5 years specializing in outpatient orthopedics, sports medicine and post-op rehabilitation before deciding to move to Oahu to escape the Pacific Northwest winter. She has taken a variety of advanced manual therapy courses in mobilization and treatments for the upper and lower extremities, as well as the spine and pelvic/sacroiliac region.
Shannon is a sports enthusiast and played college soccer and basketball, and is a national champion in Ultimate Frisbee. She loves Hawaii and has taken advantage of the many outdoor activities it has to offer, such as: surfing, outrigger canoe paddling, hiking, swimming, SUP, and spike ball.
